Alexander Nair
I'm a student currently studying Computer Science and Mathematics, interested in machine learning, game development, story writing, and Tabletop Roleplaying Games.
Stuff I've Done
-
- Learnt several programming languages (Python, C++, Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS)
- Have programmed multiple Machine Learning models.
- Developed multiple games in both Pygame and Unreal Engine 5.
- Led a Computer Science club in school.
- Acted as group leader for multiple group projects.
- Written several stories (both original stories and fan-fictions).
- Acts as the Dungeon Master and group leader of two Dungeons and Dragons groups.
Autobiography
I was born in 2006 in the United Kingdom, and had an interest in both mathematics and computer scientists since I was young. I was home-schooled until I was fourteen years old, at which point I went to Ermysteds for my GCSEs and A-Levels.
During my time at school, I made friends and began to open up to the idea of running Tabletop Roleplaying Games, such as Dungeons and Dragons. As an avid storywriter, I enjoyed being the Dungeon Master of these games, DMing for four groups in total. This is also when I developed my social and leadership skills, which were pretty lack-luster before this.
Academically, I purused my interests when it came to A-Levels. I took Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics as my A-Level subjects, as well as an EPQ for a pseudo fifth subject. A common saying that I like to repeat, only do what you're interested in. If it isn't something you like, leave it. This ended up working out for me, as I did pretty well in all of my subjects and managed to score a place in University College London for Mathematics and Computer Science.
Currently, I'm a first-year student moving into second-year. I'm rather interested in machine learning, and I'm currently learning as much as I can in the field so that I can contribute to it with my own research. My main interests include questions like "how little data do we need to train effective RNN-based machine learning models", and "can we create a model that can break the current input-output cycle seen in most other models". My over-ambitious and dream goal is rooted in Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
